Henry Pollock, a 21-year-old England rugby back rower, is currently in contract negotiations with Northampton Saints, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season. While talks are ongoing and the club is optimistic about re-signing him, no formal agreement has been reached yet. Pollock has indicated that he is considering various options, including the possibility of playing abroad or even exploring other sports in the future. "I'm working through different scenarios and different avenues I can take," Pollock said. "The big thing for me is making sure that my management are happy with it. I'm open to every opportunity. I'm not going to say no to stuff that I think will be good for my career and good for me." Pollock acknowledged that staying with Northampton would be "so special," but he also recognized that it may not be straightforward. He emphasized that the final decision rests with him. "If it's not, then I'll be open to new opportunities. I'll be open to doing different things," he added. Pollock became the first rugby player signed by Matchroom, the sports promotion company run by Eddie Hearn, in March. While his contract with Northampton is separate from his deal with Matchroom, Hearn has described Pollock as a "£1m player," though a deal worth around £450,000 a year is expected. Pollock said Hearn's comments were not seen as pressure but as part of his role as a sports promoter. "He's the best sports promoter in the world. The reason he's the best is because he gets his client what he deserves," Pollock said. Northampton Saints are set to begin their Premiership campaign against the Newcastle Red Bulls next Friday. Director of rugby Phil Dowson expressed hope that Pollock's contract will be finalized soon, acknowledging the complexity of the negotiations. "We’re getting closer. As you can imagine it’s complex. There’s a few moving parts that we need to put together. But I’m hopeful," Dowson said.
