Henry Pollock has signed a multi-year contract extension with Northampton Saints, putting an end to speculation about his future with the club. As the reigning champions of the Premiership, Northampton has retained the 21-year-old forward, who has spent his entire career with the team. Speaking to BBC Radio Northampton, Pollock said it was "a very easy decision" to stay, emphasizing his pride in being part of a young, ambitious group of players. "I am very, very happy to sign here," he said. "I have been here my whole career, so it made sense for me to stay on the journey." Pollock's rising profile in rugby has been significant over the past two seasons, with appearances for England and the British and Irish Lions boosting his visibility. His agent, Eddie Hearn, a well-known boxing promoter, once suggested Pollock could be worth "seven-figure" deals, but such figures are unlikely to be matched in the Premiership. The league has a strict salary cap of £6.4 million per club, and Northampton already has a star-studded squad. While the exact amount of Pollock's new contract is unclear, estimates range from £400,000 to higher figures. This would place him well above the average Premiership salary and significantly ahead of his peers in his age group and experience level. Pollock's previous contract, signed in December 2024, was reportedly worth £150,000 annually. His new deal will keep him with Northampton beyond the expiration of his previous contract in summer 2027. Although he had previously said he was open to offers, including potential moves abroad or to other sports, staying with Northampton was always the most likely path. He made his Premiership debut in November 2023 and has since become a key figure for the team. His performances, especially during Northampton's run to the Champions Cup final, have earned him recognition both domestically and internationally. Pollock has featured in every England Test match over the past 12 months, though he has only started once, against Ireland. His rise has been marked not just by his on-field performance but also by his character and leadership. Northampton's director of rugby, Phil Dowson, praised Pollock's qualities, saying, "What's most exciting is that there's still so much more to come from him. Henry is incredibly ambitious and constantly looking for ways to improve." Pollock, too, is optimistic about the club's future, expressing hope that Northampton can become the first team since Saracens in 2019 to successfully defend their Premiership title. "We have the squad depth and the belief in this group that we can do it," he said. "Let's see, hopefully we can create some magic along the way. Let's write a new story."
