Fortuneo's growth and ownership

Fortuneo, launched in 2000, specializes in online banking and is a subsidiary of the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa cooperative group since 2006. The bank has grown rapidly over the past decade and launched its own online banking services in 2009. As of September 2025, Fortuneo claimed to have over one million customers in France, far fewer than BoursoBank's eight million. The Crédit Mutuel Arkéa aims to double the number of customers for its two online banks, Fortuneo in France and Keytrade Bank in Belgium, from 1.4 to 2.8 million in five years.

Fortuneo's Mastercard options

Fortuneo offers three types of Mastercard: Fosfo Mastercard Gold, CB Mastercard World Elite, and CB Mastercard. The Fosfo Mastercard is free if at least one transaction is made per month, otherwise, a 3 € monthly fee applies. The Gold CB Mastercard is free if at least one transaction is made per month, otherwise, a 9 € monthly fee applies. The World Elite CB Mastercard is free if 4,000 € is deposited monthly, otherwise, a 50 € quarterly fee applies. The initial deposit required for the Fosfo Mastercard is 0 € if opened via the app, otherwise 50 €. The Gold and World Elite CB Mastercards require initial deposits of 50 €. No account maintenance fees are charged.

Fees and overdraft policies

Fortuneo does not charge fees for international payments or withdrawals, although third-party fees may apply. Transfers outside the SEPA zone cost 0.1% of the amount with a minimum of 23 €. Instant transfers and SEPA transfers are free. Fortuneo allows overdrafts for all accounts, with a default limit of 200 €, charged at 7% annually for authorized overdrafts and 16% for unauthorized ones. The Fosfo Mastercard requires six months of account history to request an overdraft, while the Gold and World Elite CB Mastercards can request it immediately.

Welcome bonuses and cashback

Fortuneo offers a welcome bonus of up to 260 €, with income requirements ranging from 0 € to 4,000 € net monthly. The Fosfo Mastercard has no income requirement. The Gold CB Mastercard requires 2,200 € net monthly, and the World Elite CB Mastercard requires 4,000 € net monthly. The bank offers a cashback program called Cashback+, integrated into its app, with discounts from partners such as Fnac, Carrefour, and Ikea. Customers can receive cashback through gift cards, immediate discounts, or traditional cashback methods.

Financial products and customer support

Fortuneo provides various financial products, including the Livret A with a 1.7% interest rate, the Livret Jeune with a rate at least equal to the Livret A, life insurance, auto insurance, real estate loans, and personal loans in partnership with Younited Credit. The bank's customer service is accessible by phone and email, with responses typically received within 20 minutes. The application includes a comprehensive help center with guides and videos. However, Fortuneo does not support cryptocurrency services, despite the group's stock market activities. The mobile app is functional but lacks originality, though it supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Garmin Pay, and Wero for peer-to-peer transfers. The app allows the creation of virtual cards and real-time transaction tracking. The stock market feature in the app is less comprehensive than on the web platform. Customers cannot deposit cash directly into their accounts, but they can use checks or transfers from another bank.
