Skoda has unveiled the Epiq, a new electric SUV designed to compete with other compact electric vehicles like the Renault 4 E-Tech, Kia EV2, Peugeot e-2008, and Leapmotor B03X. The Epiq is built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB+ platform, which is also used for the Volkswagen ID. Polo, ID. Cross, and the Cupra Raval. This platform is optimized for small, affordable electric vehicles, and the Epiq aims to offer a blend of practicality and SUV-like versatility, with a compact footprint and a raised driving position suitable for urban and suburban use. Measuring 4.17 meters in length, 1.80 meters in width, and 1.62 meters in height, the Epiq is designed for maneuverability in city environments while still offering a spacious interior. It includes a semi-autonomous driving system (level 2), a maximum speed of 160 km/h, and a 13-inch touchscreen. The vehicle features a Type 2 Combo (CCS) charging port, allowing for fast DC charging, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. Its aerodynamic design, with a 0.275 air penetration coefficient (Cx), includes active flaps on the bumper and protective underbody components to improve efficiency and durability. Inside, the Epiq offers generous headroom of 97.3 cm and ample legroom for two adults. It includes modern amenities such as USB-C ports, ventilation ducts, a central armrest, and cup holders. The vehicle also features practical "Simply Clever" details, like smartphone mounts, umbrella storage, a defroster in the trunk, and a funnel for windshield washer liquid. The trunk space is 475 liters in a 5-seater configuration, with an optional front frunk of 25 liters and an additional 25 liters of storage in the rear. When the rear seats are folded down, the total cargo capacity expands to 1,345 liters. The Epiq is powered by a 55 kWh battery (52 kWh net) in the tested version, offering a range of up to 441 kilometers on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle. Its energy consumption is between 13.7 and 14.1 kWh per 100 km, with a tested average of 13 kWh/100 km on a mixed route. The vehicle can be charged to 80% in 24 minutes using a 105 kW DC fast charger, and a full charge via AC takes around 5 hours and 30 minutes. Starting at 26,470 euros for the City 35 version (115 hp) and 27,670 euros for the City 40 version (135 hp), the Epiq offers a range of models, with the top-tier Clever version priced at 36,500 euros. Discounts of up to 4,000 euros are available during the launch period, and the vehicle qualifies for ecological bonuses and CEE premiums, which can significantly reduce the final price. With its competitive pricing and feature set, the Epiq positions itself as a strong contender in the affordable electric SUV market.
