The expansion is expected to create approximately 200 new jobs. It includes 7,700 square meters of new production areas and 2,200 square meters of office space, raising the total site area to over 110,000 square meters.Strategic growth for MTU
Jaap Beijer, senior vice president of MRO operations at MTU and general manager of the Hanover site, emphasized the importance of the expansion. He noted that the Hanover site has long been central to MTU's maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities.Focus on heavy freighter engines
The additional capacity will primarily be used for maintaining heavy freighter engines and repairing modules. This includes work on the GEnx engines used in aircraft like the 787 and 747-8, and future repairs on the central gearboxes of the GE9X engines used in the 777X.Reconfiguring existing space
The expansion will also involve reconfiguring existing facilities to free up space for new repair activities. This will allow MTU to optimize its current infrastructure while supporting future growth.
