Release date set for 2027

MAGES. has confirmed that Seeker Eye, a supernatural horror visual novel, will be released on February 25, 2027, in Japan for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch. This date marks a delay from an initial winter 2026 release and adds a specific day to the launch timeline.

Editions and pricing details

The standard edition of Seeker Eye will cost 6,380 yen, while a limited edition priced at 9,680 yen includes a DVD of the original soundtrack and an illustrated book. Physical copies will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, with the latter using a game-key card that serves as an access key without containing the game data itself.

Creative team and thematic contrast

The game is developed by a team associated with the Science Adventure series, known for titles like STEINS;GATE and CHAOS;CHILD, which explore mysteries through logic and science. Seeker Eye contrasts this by focusing on supernatural phenomena, which are inherently unexplainable by scientific means. Ryou Yasumoto, who wrote CHAOS;CHILD and the STEINS;GATE 0 anime, is the scenario writer, while Takeshi Abo composes the music.

Story premise and narrative structure

The game begins with a ghost story titled "The Ghost Story of the Red Roof House," first released in 2024. The protagonist is a journalist investigating an abandoned house, where strange events begin to unfold. As he uncovers more, he becomes entangled in a series of mysterious deaths that mirror the story. The narrative alternates between the perspectives of supernatural beings and their victims, creating a layered and intricate plot.

Special mode and player interaction

A special mode called "Seeker Eye" activates during late hours in the game, allowing the player to observe the private lives of characters involved in the story. This mode raises central questions about the player's role and the source of the mysterious deaths. The presentation suggests that the "Seeker Eye" holds the answers to these questions.

Gameplay and visual elements

Seeker Eye features over 1,000 illustrations, far exceeding the typical visual novel. The game’s structure, with its blend of clues and shifting perspectives, aims to immerse the player in a complex web of fear and reflection. The publisher leaves open whether the truth behind the story will be fully revealed or if something else awaits the player.

Cast and music

The game includes a notable vocal cast, with Kanako Ito performing the main theme. Ito is already known for her work on the Science Adventure series, adding to the game’s connection with its predecessor titles.
