A company named Inmo, which makes various types of smart glasses, has announced a recall for its Air3 model due to a potential overheating issue with the left temple. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been 10 reports from users who experienced a "burning sensation on the face and the left side of the ear" while using the Air3. This overheating could pose a serious risk of injury or even death due to the burn hazard. The recall affects more than 1,600 Air3 smart glasses sold in the United States and Canada between December 2025 and August 2026. These glasses were sold through Inmo’s website, Amazon, and a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, with prices ranging from $900 to $1,300. Consumers can identify the affected models by their black frames and a label on the right temple that reads "Air3" and "Inmo." Inmo has set up a recall page on its website, urging users to stop using the Air3 glasses immediately and contact the company’s support team by phone or email. The company will provide a free online software update to address the issue. Although the official recall in collaboration with the CPSC is a recent action, concerns about the overheating problem date back at least seven months. Online reviews from that time already mentioned the left temple’s tendency to overheat and the resulting burning sensation. Inmo was aware of this issue early on, as it included a protective sleeve with the glasses designed to shield users from excessive heat while wearing them. The recall highlights the importance of addressing product safety concerns promptly, even if they were known internally. Inmo’s response includes a free software update, which may help mitigate the overheating problem. However, the company has not yet provided details on whether the update will fully resolve the issue or if hardware changes are required. Consumers are advised to follow the recall instructions closely to ensure their safety.
