Razer has launched a new gaming headset called the Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics, aiming to bring advanced haptic feedback technology to a wider audience. Haptic feedback refers to the use of vibrations or physical sensations to enhance the user's experience, often used in gaming to make in-game events feel more immersive. This new model is significantly more affordable than its predecessor, the Kraken V4 Pro, which costs 450 euros. The Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics is available for 110 euros, offering similar haptic features but at a much lower price. The Sensa HD technology used in the headset simulates physical sensations based on in-game events. For example, a distant explosion might feel different from a nearby gunshot, allowing players to perceive the environment more realistically. The headset includes two mechanisms: one that works with games that natively support Sensa HD, and another that converts regular sound into vibrations for other games, movies, or music. These two systems work together in a feature called Dynamic Haptics mode, which helps provide a more consistent experience across different content types. In addition to haptic feedback, the Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics features 40 mm TriForce speakers for clear audio, a HyperClear cardioid microphone for voice communication, and 7.1 software surround sound to enhance spatial awareness. The ear cushions are made of memory foam covered in FlowKnit fabric for comfort, and the headset includes Chroma RGB lighting for customization. Unlike the more expensive V4 Pro model, this version uses a wired connection with a cable on the headband, rather than wireless capabilities. Razer faces competition from other brands in the haptic gaming headset market, such as Skullcandy with its Crusher PLYR 720 model, which is priced at 260 euros in Europe. The Skullcandy headset combines haptic bass with THX Spatial Audio, offering a wireless experience. While the Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics is more affordable, it sacrifices wireless connectivity for a lower price, making it a more budget-friendly option for gamers interested in haptic feedback without the higher cost of the Pro version.
