Dog goes missing during walk

On Sunday, Gilles Bataillard was walking his 9-year-old Jagdterrier, Naya, in Ivory, in the Jura region, when the dog suddenly disappeared after being let off to play. Naya was wearing a GPS collar, but the signal was not precise enough to locate her accurately.

Dog becomes trapped underground

The dog had chased an animal and entered a hidden natural cavity, becoming stuck at the bottom of a narrow underground passage. Naya was unable to climb back up on her own, leaving Gilles worried and searching the area for his pet.

Rescue efforts begin

For 48 hours, Gilles waited anxiously for news of Naya. Rescuing the dog without specialized help was considered impossible due to the complexity of the rock formations and the vast underground network. Eventually, the French Speleo Rescue was called to assist.

Rescuers locate and save the dog

The rescue team, experienced in delicate underground interventions, carefully entered the galleries to locate Naya. Through their expertise and determination, the rescuers reached the dog and brought her safely back to the surface. According to Le Progrès, the emotional reunion between Naya and Gilles marked the end of a two-day ordeal.
