A free update for Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to launch on October 9, at the same time as the Dark Arisen expansion. This update introduces a new difficulty mode, giving players the option to increase the challenge of the game. It also allows players to transfer their saved data to a new game, similar to a New Game+ feature, without needing to finish the game first. The update includes several technical improvements. For the PlayStation 5 Pro version, the game will transition from PSSR to improved PSSR, a technology that enhances visual quality and performance. On Steam, the update will add support for FSR 3 and DLSS 4.5, which are technologies that improve graphics performance and resolution. It will also include support for the DualSense controller, which provides features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The full list of changes includes the addition of Dark Arisen content, the new difficulty mode, and the ability to transfer saved data. Adjustments to pions, which are AI-controlled companions in the game, include the addition of the Orienteur specialization. Other changes involve increasing the number of crystals received from forgotten fault stones from 30 to 90 and adding thermal properties to certain armors. Bug fixes will address several issues with pions, such as incorrect priority for elemental enchantment skills, pions fighting with bare hands when weapons are equipped, and pions unable to climb or descend ladders. UI bugs related to command assignments and object names in the main menu guide will also be corrected. Fixes will be made to mission-related issues, including problems with the "Ghost Ox Cart" and "Corrupted Beasts" missions. Additional fixes include incorrect armor pieces for the Archimonarch and issues with saved data detection after using a death arrow. On Steam, graphical options will be updated to include multi-image generation support, and the DualSense controller features like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and motion detection will be enabled.
