Canal+ has introduced a new security measure to better protect its subscribers' accounts. The company now requires users to set up a six-digit security code, which adds an extra layer of protection beyond the usual password. This code is sent to the user via SMS or email, depending on their preference, and must be entered after the password to complete the login process. This system ensures that even if someone were to discover a user's password, they would still need the six-digit code to access the account. The six-digit code also plays a key role in account recovery. If a subscriber forgets their password, the code can help verify their identity and regain access to their account. Additionally, if Canal+ detects suspicious activity—such as someone attempting to log in on the user's behalf—it can alert the subscriber immediately. To further enhance account security, Canal+ encourages users to designate trusted contacts. These are individuals who can help confirm the subscriber's identity if needed, such as during account-related actions. Trusted contacts can be added through the Customer Space, and they will be contacted to verify the user's identity when required. However, they do not replace the need for login credentials or personal information. Canal+ reminds users to keep their trusted contacts updated whenever necessary, a process that can be completed quickly. The company also advises users not to use the same password for their personal email and their Canal+ account. If one account is compromised, using the same password for both could expose both accounts to potential threats. By following these security recommendations, Canal+ aims to better protect its users from unauthorized access and data breaches.
