Valentin Haüy and Josiane are launching a campaign called Galères de nuit to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with visual impairments. The initiative is organized by the Valentin Haüy association, a well-known organization in France that supports blind and visually impaired individuals by helping them achieve greater independence and social inclusion. The campaign seeks to give the general public a glimpse into the daily struggles of nearly 2 million visually impaired people in France, aiming to foster greater understanding and empathy. At the heart of the campaign is a short film that follows a man who wakes up in the middle of the night to get a glass of water without disturbing his wife. However, without light, his simple task becomes a difficult and stressful journey. The film uses this scenario to illustrate the broader message: "Living in the dark is complicated. Imagine spending your whole life in it." This visual representation is meant to convey the challenges that visually impaired individuals face every day, often in ways that are not immediately visible to others. The film was produced by Hiersoir, a media production company, and the overall media strategy was developed by CTRL-M, a communications agency. The campaign includes a two-minute version of the film, as well as a shorter 30-second version, which will be available starting October 12. These versions will be accessible through television replays, digital platforms, and social media networks, allowing the message to reach a wide audience. By using a relatable and emotionally engaging story, Galères de nuit hopes to spark conversations and encourage people to think more deeply about the experiences of those living with visual impairments. The campaign underscores the importance of accessibility and inclusion in everyday life, aiming to create a more supportive environment for visually impaired individuals in France.
