Fujifilm releases updated Instax Mini Evo

Fujifilm unveiled the second generation of its Instax Mini Evo instant camera on October 27. The device, launched in 2022, combines digital photography with the ability to print selected photos on Instax Mini film.

Improved sensor and lens features

The Mini Evo 2 features a larger 1/2.77-inch sensor, more than three times the size of the previous model’s 1/5-inch sensor. The lens has also been widened to 21 mm, compared to 28 mm on the original, while maintaining an f/2 aperture.

Enhanced display and user interface

The new model includes a 4.46-inch touch-sensitive LCD screen with 1.23 million points, replacing the 3-inch screen with 460,000 points. This is the first touch screen in Instax’s history. The device retains two physical dials with 100 combinations of lens and film effects.

Upgraded connectivity and features

The Mini Evo 2 uses Bluetooth 5.2 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which were absent from the first model. It also includes face detection autofocus, support for microSDXC cards up to 256 GB, and a slightly faster print time of 14 seconds per photo.

Printing and resolution limitations

Despite the improved sensor, the print head still exposes 1,600 x 600 points on the Instax Mini film, resulting in lower resolution. For smartphone photos, the resolution drops further to 800 x 600 points.

New video and expanded view features

The device introduces Instax Expanded View, which shows a wider frame in the viewfinder. It also includes Instax Immersive Movie, which records four seconds before the photo is taken, but the video quality is low at 560 x 992 pixels and lacks sound.

Release date and pricing details

The Instax Mini Evo 2 will be available for purchase at the end of November 2026 at a recommended price of 269.99 euros. It will only be offered in black initially, and a separate case will cost 24.99 euros. The camera does not include Instax Mini film or a microSD card.
