A 13th Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed following an undercover BBC Panorama investigation into alleged misogyny and racism at Charing Cross police station. PC Mason O’Connor was found to have committed discreditable conduct and breached professional standards, linked to a comment he made toward a female colleague while off-duty in a pub. The incident occurred in October 2024 and was uncovered as part of a broader investigation launched after the Panorama broadcast in October 2025, which exposed seven months of undercover footage showing officers making racist, misogynistic, and violent remarks. The Panorama investigation revealed disturbing content, including officers calling for immigrants to be shot and boasting about using excessive force against suspects. O’Connor’s comment, "I hope you get raped on your way to Waterloo," was reported as part of a witness appeal and a wider proactive investigation. The disciplinary panel ruled that O’Connor had breached standards related to professional behavior, respect, equality, and diversity. This dismissal follows that of PC Lloyd Hunter, who was found to have made offensive comments about using force against the public and expressed hatred toward homeless people. Commander Simon Messinger, from the Met’s professionalism department, emphasized the seriousness of the findings, stating that the dismissals send a clear message about the standards expected from police officers. He noted the Metropolitan Police’s commitment to improving its culture and supporting the ongoing investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The IOPC confirmed that investigations into the conduct of 15 other officers or police staff are continuing. Some misconduct cases were identified from footage not included in the original Panorama broadcast. The IOPC’s director of engagement, Amanda Rowe, described the investigation as one of the largest in the organization’s history, with a significant number of disciplinary proceedings being fast-tracked. Both O’Connor and Hunter will be barred from rejoining the police force or working with other police-related bodies. The ongoing inquiry into Charing Cross police station has led to the dismissal of 13 officers since its launch, with further investigations into the conduct of 15 more members of staff. The Met has reiterated its stance that such behavior is "totally unacceptable" and has pledged to address these issues to uphold public trust.
