The Garmin Forerunner 265 was launched in March 2023 with a price of 499.99 euros. It features an AMOLED touchscreen, multiband GPS, and a full set of training tools. This model has since been replaced by the Forerunner 570, which costs 549.99 euros. However, the Forerunner 265 is now available on AliExpress for 231.41 euros using the promo code FRPRD20, which is a discount of 96.41 euros from its original price. This price is slightly lower than the 234 euros it was sold for during winter sales. The Forerunner 265 includes a 1.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels, which remains readable in both bright sunlight and indoors. It provides daily training sessions, a training readiness score, and nighttime heart rate variability tracking. The multiband GPS, supported by SatIQ technology, offers precise distance tracking in different environments, such as under trees or between buildings. Independent testing has confirmed its accuracy in GPS and heart rate measurements. The watch has a 20-hour GPS battery life, which is enough for a marathon, and it can last up to 13 days in connected use. It includes a running widget that features a countdown timer, time prediction, and suggested sessions to help users meet their training goals. The triathlon mode and barometric altimeter make it useful for cycling, swimming, and running in hilly areas. Garmin Pay and music synchronization with services like Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music allow users to go out without carrying a phone. The Forerunner 265 is mainly targeted at runners training for 10 km, half marathons, or marathons, as well as beginner triathletes. It is less suitable for trail runners who rely on mapping features for navigation, as it does not include mapping capabilities, unlike the Forerunner 965 and 970. It also lacks a microphone and speaker, features that were introduced with the Forerunner 570. The 46 mm casing might appear large on thin wrists, but a smaller 42 mm version, the Forerunner 265S, is available. Compared to the Forerunner 570, the Forerunner 265 lacks a microphone, speaker, aluminum bezel, and the latest heart rate sensor. However, it still includes essential coaching features and has a battery life that is slightly better than the Forerunner 570 according to tests. The Forerunner 165 retains the AMOLED screen but loses the dual-frequency GPS and some of the training tools. The Forerunner 265 is currently available on AliExpress for 231.41 euros with the promo code FRPRD20. It maintains the AMOLED screen, multiband GPS, and recovery tracking it had at launch. The significant price difference with the Forerunner 570 makes it a good option for runners who need reliable data. However, it is not suitable for those who run off-trail and rely on a map or want to make calls from their wrist. Buyers should verify the seller and warranty on AliExpress to avoid issues.
