Philips has introduced a new line of OLED televisions in 2026, along with more budget-friendly QLED models, including the 65PQS8631. This model features a 65-inch QLED panel, which offers high-quality image reproduction, and comes with the Titan OS home interface for smart control. The TV includes Ambilight technology, which projects colored LEDs on three sides of the screen, extending the visual experience onto the wall. Philips has also developed AmbiScape, an advanced version of this feature that can sync with smart bulbs in your living room, creating a fully immersive atmosphere that envelops the entire space. The 65PQS8631 is currently available at a reduced price of 699 euros on the Boulanger website, down from its listed price of 799 euros. This model provides a large 65-inch QLED display with 4K resolution and excellent contrast and color performance. It supports several image-enhancing standards like HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, and also includes Dolby Atmos for immersive sound. While the TV's audio quality is good, adding a soundbar can further enhance the experience. The Ambilight feature is particularly notable, as it uses LEDs on three sides to project colors onto the wall, effectively expanding the image and making long viewing sessions more comfortable. For gamers, the Philips 65PQS8631 supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to reduce screen tearing and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which automatically switches the TV to low-latency mode when a gaming console is detected. However, the TV's native refresh rate is 60 Hz, though it can process up to 120 Hz. It includes three HDMI 2.0 ports, which are suitable for most current consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but not ideal for high-end 4K gaming at 120 Hz. The TV also features Titan OS, a user-friendly interface similar to Google TV, offering access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and MyCanal. It is compatible with voice assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing users to control the TV with voice commands. Overall, the Philips 65PQS8631 offers a compelling blend of immersive visuals, smart features, and gaming capabilities at a competitive price point.
