New electric bike line launched

Scott, an American bicycle manufacturer, has introduced a new line of urban electric bikes called Sweep, featuring three models: the Sweep 10, the Sweep 20, and the Sweep 20 Wave. These bikes are designed for city riding and include features aimed at combining performance with practicality.

Sweep 10 details and design

The Sweep 10 is the most sporty model in the range, priced at 2,499 euros. It has a rigid frame made of lightweight aluminum with refined finishes and includes Shimano components, such as a Cues 9-speed transmission. The bike is equipped with a rear-mounted Bosch Hub Line motor and a PowerTube 360 battery hidden inside the frame.

Comfort features in Sweep 20 and 20 Wave

The Sweep 20 and Sweep 20 Wave models offer a suspended fork for improved comfort, priced at 2,399 euros each. The Sweep 20 Wave also has an open frame, making it suitable for users who want to attach a child seat. Both models use the new Bosch Hub Line motor, which is thinner, lighter, and less expensive than traditional pedal motors.

Performance and battery specifics

The Sweep 10 is intended for urban use with a motor torque of 45 Nm, which is ideal for gentle assistance on flat terrain. Its 360 Wh battery is designed for short daily commutes and may need recharging multiple times per day. The battery can be removed using a key from the underside of the frame, though Scott does not provide specific range figures.

Smart features and comfort trade-offs

The Sweep 10 includes a Purion 200 control unit and can connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth using the eBike Flow app. This app offers configuration, route tracking, and security features like eBike Lock and eBike Alarm, which require a subscription and a GPS module. However, the bike lacks suspension, making it less comfortable on rough urban surfaces like cobblestones and potholes. Its rigid fork and sporty riding position enhance agility but reduce comfort on uneven terrain.
