Technics has introduced the EAH-A1000, a new circum-aural headphone model designed to replace the EAH-A800 in its product lineup. The EAH-A1000 features a 40 mm transducer equipped with "Magnetic Fluid Driver" technology, which was previously used in in-ear models like the EAH-TZ700 and EAH-AZ100 but is now being applied for the first time to a circum-aural format. This technology involves injecting a magnetic fluid between the moving coil and magnet to stabilize the diaphragm's movement, reducing unwanted vibrations and distortion. The diaphragm itself uses a pure carbon cone design for a better strength-to-weight ratio, while the SST Edge (Symmetrical Surround Technology) aims to improve the symmetry of the diaphragm's movement, reducing distortion in the lower frequency range. A revised acoustic architecture with a flat baffle structure and an acoustic control chamber is also included to enhance sound accuracy. The EAH-A1000 supports adaptive noise cancellation, which automatically adjusts based on ambient noise, fit, and user morphology. Each earcup includes six microphones for noise detection and neutralization. For calls, two dedicated microphones with AI-driven beamforming are used. The headphones also feature a redesigned ergonomic design with a headband and slide system aimed at distributing pressure more evenly. The EAH-A1000 weighs 306 grams, which is lighter than the AirPods Max 2 but heavier than the Sony WH-1000XM6, Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones 2e Gen, and Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless. The headphones support Bluetooth codecs including SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3, as well as Bluetooth multipoint connection to three devices simultaneously. They also support USB audio for lossless playback and are optimized for Dolby Atmos with head tracking. The announced battery life is 45 hours in AAC with noise reduction activated, and up to 90 hours with it disabled. Fast charging allows 4 hours of playback after 15 minutes of charging. The EAH-A1000 is priced at 449 euros and is available in black and Platinum Greige. It competes with models such as the Apple AirPods Max 2, Sony WH-1000XM6, Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones 2e Gen, and Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless.
