The Saint Laurent spring-summer 2027 runway show, designed by Anthony Vaccarello, centered around Charlotte Gainsbourg, a French actress and singer known for her work in film and music. Vaccarello, the creative director of Saint Laurent, described the collection's theme as one of light and its impermanence. He said, "A light shines all the more intensely the more we know it is impossible to hold it back. What passes sometimes leaves more light than what remains." The designs featured golden silhouettes that echoed the grandeur of haute couture, followed by a dramatic shift to black dresses, creating a striking visual contrast. Charlotte Gainsbourg performed a song written specifically for the event, which included lyrics such as, "You are so much Yves Saint Laurent, Anthony, you're so much." The runway was set in a space inspired by the Intercontinental hotel in Paris, a venue where Yves Saint Laurent, the legendary French fashion designer, once showcased his collections. This choice added a layer of history and nostalgia to the event. Charlotte Gainsbourg and Anthony Vaccarello first met in 2013 when she asked him to wear a piece from his eponymous brand at the César awards, a prestigious French film award ceremony. Their collaboration continued with her role in the film Lux Æterna, directed by Gaspar Noé and produced by Saint Laurent in 2019. Vaccarello later directed her music video for the song "Blurry Moon," which was originally created for the Saint Laurent men's autumn-winter 2025-2026 runway show. The song later appeared at the Met Gala and during the Cannes Film Festival. Currently, nostalgic photographs of Charlotte Gainsbourg are on display at Saint Laurent Rive Droite, a Parisian boutique and creative hub for the brand. The exhibition, which was first shown this summer at the Rencontres d'Arles photography festival with support from Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello, and collector Maja Hoffmann, will remain open until December 2nd. As for Charlotte Gainsbourg's future plans after the show, they remain uncertain.
