Debut in Top 14

Joachim Senga-Kouo is set to make his Top 14 debut this Sunday evening at the Hameau stadium, where Section Paloise will host Stade Toulousain in the eighth round of the championship. The 18-year-old winger, who previously played for Vannes in Pro D2, has been recovering from injuries that delayed his debut.

Injury setbacks

He had been sidelined at the start of the season due to an ankle injury and later faced a thigh issue, but he has since returned to training and is now on the bench with the number 22 on his back. These setbacks delayed his professional debut, but he has worked to return to fitness.

Rugby career highlights

Senga-Kouo, who was revealed in the France U20 jersey, played four starts for the national team, scoring three tries and contributing to a Grand Slam. He also appeared four times in Pro D2 this season, scoring as many tries, including a hat-trick against AS Béziers Hérault.

Challenges and aspirations

However, an ankle injury forced him to miss the U20 World Cup and the final phase of Pro D2. In an interview with Rugbyrama, Senga-Kouo expressed his anticipation for the debut, noting that he has limited experience in professional rugby and views the match as an important step in his career.

Training and versatility

He emphasized the need to work hard in training and be ready to play, stating that his position will be determined by the team's needs and his performance in training. He mentioned his versatility, saying he is willing to play on the wing or at fullback and aims to contribute through his ability to launch the ball.

Choice of club

Senga-Kouo explained that choosing Section Paloise was a complicated but obvious decision, as the club has a strong track record of developing young players. He highlighted his discussions with club officials Sébastien Piqueronies and Brandon Fajardo, who played a role in his decision.

Adaptation and determination

The young player is eager to adapt to the team's playing style and take advantage of every opportunity to prove himself. His goal is to establish himself in the Top 14 and build on his growing rugby career.
