In 2024, the introduction of Amflow created a stir among traditional makers of electric bicycles. Supported by DJI, a major drone and technology company, Amflow uses Avinox motors in its bikes and is now entering a new phase in 2026. After unveiling the 100% VTTAE PX and PR models in April, the company has launched a new generation of electric bicycles, featuring the versatile TL Carbon model. This bike is fully suspended and well-equipped, retaining mountain bike characteristics. But can it truly meet all expectations? The Avinox M2 motor, which impressed during the Eurobike trade show, is now being tested on various terrains for several weeks to determine its performance. The Amflow TL Carbon is designed to be a well-equipped city bike, with a carbon frame that has a flattering beige matte finish and classic lines. The company pays attention to detail, from the packaging to the assembly, which is seamless. The bike comes with a variety of accessories, including a rear light that runs on its own battery, offering only three hours of autonomy. A missing stop light is a notable oversight. However, the front light is powerful and suitable for off-road use, with automatic lighting and mudguards that, although short, can collect some dirt. The bike also includes a stand, a well-designed rear rack, and options for mounting a basket or child seat. It can support a total weight of 200 kg, making it suitable for daily trips with luggage. A wheel lock would have been a welcome addition, though it is rare on this type of bike. The Amflow TL Carbon features a high-quality screen supported by a user-friendly app. The screen is located on the top tube, which is typical for e-mountain bikes, though it may not be the most visible position. The screen is a 2-inch OLED DPC100, offering smooth performance and a variety of windows for driving information. The app allows for customization and includes features such as unlocking the bike with a code or smartphone, triggering an alarm in case of theft, and integrating with Apple devices through a compatible tracker. A USB-C port is also included for charging smartphones if needed. The Avinox M2 motor is at the heart of the Amflow TL Carbon, offering 110 Nm of torque and 1,100 W of peak power. It performs exceptionally well on steep slopes and provides a smooth, natural ride. The motor's semi-active riding position shifts weight to the saddle, offering a comfortable experience. The bike's suspension, with 120 mm of travel in the front and 105 mm in the rear, is complemented by a pneumatic fork and a Fox shock, providing good off-road capabilities and daily comfort. An electronic derailleur adds to the bike’s performance, allowing for smooth gear changes with a responsive handlebar control. The bike also features powerful hydraulic brakes and the Avinox SmoothShift technology, which reduces torque during gear changes to protect the drivetrain. The large Avinox RS800 battery, with a capacity of 800 Wh, provides a significant range, and an optional secondary battery can extend this further. Despite the battery's somewhat impractical location and weight, the fast charging capability is a notable feature. The Amflow TL Carbon is the most affordable model in the Amflow range, priced at 3,499 €, making it a compelling option for those seeking a versatile and well-equipped electric bike.
