French people use AI for health issues

A survey conducted by Doctolib and the Jean-Jaurès Foundation in spring 2026 found that nearly one in two French people have turned to conversational AI, such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, or Gemini, for health-related issues.

AI overviews increase use

Since this summer, the use of AI for health-related queries has become even more common, as search engines like Google now offer summaries generated by AI, referred to as "AI overviews," which compile key information from multiple websites.

Younger people lead in AI use

Young people under 25 are the most likely to use these AI tools, with approximately 20 percent of those over 65 and 10 percent of those over 75 admitting to having already used a virtual chatbot for health-related inquiries.

AI chatbots offer benefits and risks

These chatbots offer immediate availability and provide clear answers without becoming tired or irritated. However, they are primarily programmed to provide responses that appear true, which can lead to the invention of information.
