A percussionist explores the hidden shapes of waves through the vibrations they create in water. This performance invites the audience to use their eyes, ears, and bodies to experience the interplay between science and poetry. It raises questions about how vibrations affect living beings and what makes up the sounds that surround us every day. Water basins, plants, singing bowls, and drums are arranged in the performance space, creating ripples that spread outward and form shifting, dynamic landscapes. The show’s calm and reflective nature connects with the writings of philosopher Gaston Bachelard, blending themes of dreams and discovery. Sur le chemin de l’onde is a production by Cie Les bruits de la lanterne, inspired by the texts of Gaston Bachelard and directed by Catherine Morvan. Thierry Waziniak is involved in the performance, while Laurent Vandanjon provides scientific guidance. Jasmine Scheurmann is responsible for technical aspects, Catherine Morvan for the set design, Stéphane Bottard for lighting and video elements, Thierry Waziniak for the musical composition, and Jean-Claude Oleksiak for the stage setup. The production is supported by several cultural institutions, including Espace Culturel Houdremont in La Courneuve, DRAC Ile de France, SPEDIDAM, and Le Petit Théâtre in Redon. The performance aims to engage the audience in a multisensory experience, using sound and movement to reveal the invisible forces of vibration. By combining artistic expression with scientific inquiry, the show invites viewers to think about how sound shapes our environment and influences our perception of the world. The use of water and other natural elements highlights the delicate balance between art and science, creating a space for reflection and imagination. Sur le chemin de l’onde will be performed at Theatre Dunois, Paris on 3 and 4 October at 17h, and again on 10 October at 17h. This event offers a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of sound, science, and poetry in a live setting.
