In a basin at a landfill, a small white puppy was found motionless in the water. The female puppy was very weakened and injured and was unable to exit the basin on her own. Rescuers from the ThisIsHouston Rescue (TIH) association arrived at the location. The health condition of the small dog suggests that she had been abandoned there for some time. The puppy, named Pretzel, was placed in the emergency clinic of the association. Examinations revealed that Pretzel was seriously injured in her legs and had several infections. The puppy also suffered from malnutrition, and her health condition was extremely fragile. The medical team did not know if the dog would survive. Veterinarians implemented a diet and appropriate care to allow her extremely fragile body to regain strength safely. Pretzel was very frightened at first, but she eventually trusted the rescuers. If her health condition improves, Pretzel is not yet out of danger. One of her legs is broken and seriously infected and will need to be amputated soon. The team believes that this operation will allow her to regain comfort in daily life afterward. The TIH team has been working closely with Pretzel, providing her with the necessary medical care and emotional support. They are hopeful that with continued treatment, Pretzel will recover and be able to live a happy life. The rescue highlights the ongoing efforts of animal welfare organizations to help stray and abandoned animals in need.
