Beta test date changed

The beta test for World of Warcraft Forever has been moved to October 21 at 7 p.m. Paris time, according to an official statement from Blizzard. The earlier date of October 19 has been canceled.

Final adjustments underway

Blizzard is currently making final adjustments to World of Warcraft Forever, the redesigned version of the Azeroth world from 2004, which is set to launch on November 4. This version will be the third iteration of the game, joining WoW Modern and WoW Classic.

Stress test planned for launch

To ensure a smooth launch, Blizzard plans to conduct a large stress test. This will simulate a high number of players logging in at once to test the game's servers and network capacity. The stress test was first mentioned in an official article on September 17, though the date was not yet confirmed.

Indication of test date found

On October 14, the website Icy Veins, a specialist in World of Warcraft news, found an indication in the Battle.net launcher that a stress test for World of Warcraft Forever would begin on October 19. However, Blizzard has not officially confirmed this date.

Purpose of server slam

A server slam involves intentionally allowing too many players to log in at once to test the system's capacity. This helps the developers understand the load on servers and networks and make necessary adjustments before the official release. It is a common practice in the video game industry.

Previous use of stress tests

Blizzard used a similar stress test for Diablo IV in May 2023, a few weeks before its launch. This approach also helps generate interest in World of Warcraft Forever and may encourage players who are still unsure about participating.

New content available during test

During the stress test, players will be able to explore new content, including the Eolides, a new playable race, and their home island of Zephras. This will give players a chance to experience the new features before the official release.
