Samsung Galaxy users are starting to get the latest update, One UI 9, which is built on Android 17. The update initially rolled out for foldable models like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, as well as the Galaxy S26 FE. It is now expanding to other devices, including the full Galaxy S26 line and older models like the S25 and S24. Tablets such as the Tab S11, S10, and S9 are also expected to receive the update in the near future. While not as significant as the previous One UI 8.5 update, One UI 9 introduces several new features and customization options to enhance the user experience. One of the new features is the ability to display the Finder search tool directly on the home screen. Finder helps users search for personal data stored on their device, such as settings, apps, contacts, files, and calendar entries. Previously, Finder was only accessible through the app drawer, but now users can access it directly from the home screen by pinching the home screen, accessing settings, and enabling the "Show search on home screen" option. The shortcuts panel in One UI 9 is more customizable than before, allowing users to reorganize, resize, and add or remove modules and buttons without needing the QuickStar module from Good Lock. Users can access customization options by swiping from the top right of the screen and tapping the pencil icon in the top right corner. Now Brief, a personalized briefing tool, has been enhanced in One UI 9. Users can now create up to three customized cards that display specific information such as weather, health data, or videos. These cards can be scheduled to appear at specific times, and users can use action buttons to open related apps directly. One UI 9 introduces FanCam, an AI-powered feature that allows users to automatically reframe videos to focus on a specific person. This is particularly useful for events with many people, allowing users to create a video centered on a single subject. To use FanCam, users can open a compatible video in the Gallery, tap the Galaxy AI button, and select My FanCam. After the video is analyzed, users can choose the person to follow and select a ratio and orientation. Additionally, Android 17 introduces a feature called "Motion Sickness Mode," which uses on-screen shapes to reduce the sensation of motion sickness when viewing content in a moving vehicle. This feature can be activated automatically when the phone detects movement or manually through a button in the shortcuts panel. Users can customize the shape, color, and visibility of the shapes to suit their preferences.
