Nintendo releases connected alarm clock
Two years ago, while Nintendo fans were eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the Switch 2, the Japanese video game giant revealed a connected alarm clock named Alarmo. The device allows users to wake up to music from iconic Nintendo titles, such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or Splatoon 3.Alarmo’s features and design
The Alarmo alarm clock is a compact device, featuring a bright red casing topped with a large knob. It must be connected to a power adapter, which is not provided, unlike the USB-C cable. Nintendo advises placing it within reach, between 0 and 50 centimeters from the bed and up to 20 centimeters above, with the screen facing the center of the bed, to ensure the motion sensor functions properly.Interactive game themes and updates
One of the main advantages of this alarm clock is that it can display animated scenes from popular games from the Japanese company on this screen. At launch, users had a choice of five themes: Super Mario Odyssey, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Ring Fit Adventure, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Each game offers seven variations, all accompanied by different music and sounds. By connecting to the Internet, users can obtain additional ringtones through free updates.Motion sensor and adaptive sounds
The Alarmo allows users to wake up to the sound of Mario's tracks, the ink shots from Splatoon 3, or the dreamy music of the kingdom of Hyrule. The alarm clock also includes a motion sensor that works with radio waves, without a camera. It adapts the sounds it emits to user movements: it reacts, for example, when users stretch their arms or when they turn over in their bed upon waking up. The ringtone also decreases in intensity when users start moving.Additional sleep-related features
The Nintendo alarm clock also offers relaxing sounds to be played when going to bed and even provides a sleep tracking feature as well as a history of movements. An hourly chime, featuring animated Nintendo characters that come to life at each hour, is also available.
