New Echo devices launched

Amazon has introduced several new versions of its Echo smart speakers, including the Echo Dot, Echo Studio with Home Camera, and Echo Time, each featuring updated capabilities and designs.

Echo Dot upgrades

The new Echo Dot keeps its compact size but adds a home automation hub compatible with Zigbee, Matter, and Thread protocols, allowing Alexa to control smart home devices like lights and thermostats without needing an extra gateway. It also acts as an eero Wi-Fi repeater, expanding coverage by up to 93 square meters.

Enhanced audio and voice features

The Echo Dot uses the AZ3 chip with an AI accelerator, improving speech recognition and noise filtering. It includes a fourth microphone for better voice capture in noisy environments and promises 50% more bass and clearer voices than the previous model.

Echo Studio with Home Camera

The Echo Studio with Home Camera combines the speaker’s advanced audio features, such as a 3.75-inch woofer and support for Dolby Atmos, with a 13-megapixel camera. The camera can recognize objects, explain board game rules, and allow remote monitoring through the Alexa app, with privacy features like a disable button and an indicator light.

Camera privacy and options

Amazon states the camera does not record video sequences, and the standard Echo Studio without a camera is still available for users who prefer not to have one. The Echo Studio with camera is priced at 259.99 euros in France, while the standard model remains at 239.99 euros.

Echo Time for sleep tracking

The Echo Time is a smart alarm clock with a 3.2-inch circular touchscreen, offering features like light sleep detection using ultrasonic waves and temperature sensors. It can adjust alarms based on sleep phases and includes a sunrise-like screen lighting effect, earning it the SleepMark certification from the National Sleep Foundation.

Design and pricing details

The Echo Time is available in Graphite, Glacier White, and Coral Pink, with Kids versions in Galactic Grape and Cosmic Lime, though French prices for these have not been announced. The Echo Dot comes in multiple colors and is priced at 104.99 euros, with a Kids version at 114.99 euros.

New accessories and availability

Amazon also launched the Alexa Photo Frame and the Echo Show 16, available in the U.S. but not yet in France. Some features require an Alexa+ subscription, which is available in France where Alexa was launched in May 2026.
