Volkswagen has unveiled a new version of its ID. Buzz Cargo, featuring a longer wheelbase that adds 25 centimeters to the vehicle's length. This electric van is designed for professionals who need more space and power than the standard model offers. The ID. Buzz Cargo Long Wheel Base (LWB) includes an 86 kWh battery and can now deliver up to 340 horsepower. It will be available for pre-order in Germany starting on September 23, 2026. The extended wheelbase increases the loading volume to 4.4 cubic meters, which is 0.5 cubic meters more than the standard model. This extra space is due to a 250 mm extension in the floor length, which now measures 2,458 mm. The vehicle can carry a maximum payload of 700 kg with rear-wheel drive and 606 kg with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. A second sliding door is now standard, 19 cm wider than the one on the short-wheelbase model, enabling easier loading of items like a European pallet from the side. The wooden floor is also included as standard.
The ID. Buzz Cargo LWB retains the option of two or three seats and allows customers to choose hinged rear doors as an alternative to the tailgate. Two powertrain options are available: a 210 kW (286 horsepower) rear-wheel drive system and a 250 kW (340 horsepower) 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. Both configurations allow towing a braked trailer weighing up to 1,800 kg. The vehicle also comes with the latest version of Volkswagen's ID. software, which includes features such as Travel Assist that can now recognize traffic lights and automatically stop the vehicle at a red light. Single-pedal driving is also introduced, allowing the vehicle to recover energy up to a complete stop. The Innovision system now includes a dedicated app store for functions like streaming, parking, and charging.
The ID. Buzz Cargo LWB starts at 48,490 euros in Germany, excluding tax, for the rear-wheel drive version. This is approximately 2,340 euros more than the standard wheelbase model. Prices for the French market will be announced when pre-orders open in November. Fleet experts can reserve a test drive near their company, and Chargemap Business offers solutions for managing large-scale fleet charging. Quotation Charging Station provides assistance with the installation of charging stations. This new version of the ID. Buzz Cargo is aimed at professionals who require enhanced performance, greater cargo space, and advanced technology in their electric utility vehicles.
