Honor, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has announced it will unveil its next series of high-end smartphones on September 28 in Beijing, China. The series is expected to include three models: the Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro, and Magic 9 Pro Max. These devices are anticipated to feature advanced camera systems and cutting-edge technology, positioning them as strong contenders in the premium smartphone market. Reports suggest that the Magic 9 Pro Max may include design elements reminiscent of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models. These include a rectangular camera module, a similarly shaped but slightly different colored plate, and a camera button on the right edge. The Magic 9 Pro is said to incorporate a square selfie sensor, a design first introduced last year on the iPhone 17 Pro. The camera setup also includes a large grooved photo ring on the left side, housing the telephoto lens, flash, and the ARRI logo. This is followed by two round sensors in mint green, adding to the visual appeal and functionality of the device. Technically, the Magic 9 series is expected to feature a dual 200 megapixel sensor system. The main sensor will be a large 1/1.28 inch sensor with an f/1.57 aperture, while the telephoto lens will be a "super night" 200 megapixel sensor on a 1/1.4 inch sensor. These specifications suggest strong performance in both daylight and low-light conditions. Honor is also expected to use the next generation of Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors, which are set to be unveiled in Hawaii between September 22 and 24. Initially, two models were rumored: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. However, a new version called the 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme has recently been introduced, potentially offering even greater performance. The inclusion of the ARRI logo, a German company known for producing high-end cameras used in Hollywood films, suggests a collaboration between Honor and ARRI. This partnership is relatively new, with the first product benefiting from it being the Robot Phone, a unique robot-headed smartphone released exclusively in China. Honor is expected to highlight the zoom capabilities of the Magic 9 series, with two screw-on teleconverters included in the camera module. These teleconverters are said to provide up to 21x optical zoom and include a 200 mm version that is 81 mm long and weighs 88 grams. For now, all these developments are focused on the Chinese market, with no confirmed plans for a French release. Typically, Honor's high-end models take a few weeks to reach international markets after their initial launch.
