Xiaomi launches affordable smartwatch

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Watch 6, a budget-friendly smartwatch designed to track sports and daily activities, now priced under 90 euros after a discount from its original 109.99 euros. The device aims to offer essential fitness and activity tracking features at a lower cost than more expensive alternatives.

Design and display features

The Redmi Watch 6 retains the square design and aluminum body of previous models but includes a higher-placed rotating crown and a new physical button for quick access to functions like flashlight and notifications. It features a 2.07-inch AMOLED screen with improved brightness and resolution compared to earlier versions.

Health and activity tracking capabilities

The watch supports heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) measurement, and sleep tracking. However, it lacks more advanced features such as heart rate variability (HRV) monitoring and does not support third-party applications, which are considered acceptable trade-offs for its price range.

Battery life and performance

The Redmi Watch 6 is powered by a 550 mAh battery, with Xiaomi claiming up to 24 days of use in light mode and seven days with constant screen-on usage. During testing, the watch lasted six days under intensive use, slightly less than the seven days promised by the manufacturer but still considered a strong performance for its price point.
