The Phantom of the Opera, the beloved musical based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, is returning to the Théâtre du Gymnase beginning October 8. This new production follows its successful run at the Théâtre Antoine and is a completely reimagined version created by Benoit Solès, who also wrote the adaptation. Set in the Paris of the late 19th century, the story focuses on the hidden world behind the scenes of the Palais Garnier, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. The show blends music, romance, danger, and illusion, aiming to entertain a wide audience. It presents a world where beauty and fear coexist, and love becomes an overwhelming experience. The production features an innocent soprano, a lovesick viscount, a flamboyant diva, a determined director, and a mysterious masked Phantom who seems to emerge from the depths of the Palais Garnier to haunt the Théâtre du Gymnase. The show combines mystery, humor, and suspense, offering a magical musical experience. The original songs bring to life the world of Gaston Leroux's novel, making it both familiar and fresh for audiences. The production has received positive feedback from critics, with TELERAMA calling it "Efficace et astucieux" (effective and clever), LE PARISIEN describing it as "Une nouvelle création qui enchante" (a new creation that enchants), and RFI praising it for "Une intensité rare" (rare intensity). Other reviews highlight the minimalist set design and strong cast, as well as Benoit Solès' prolific talent. ICI Ile de France called it "Exceptionnel !" (Exceptional!), and REGARD EN COULISSE described it as "Moderne et envoûtant" (modern and enchanting). The production is part of a larger cultural initiative, as the event is a partner of the Club Artistik Rezo, an organization that supports and promotes artistic and cultural projects. This collaboration aims to enhance the visibility of the production and encourage broader audience engagement. The return of The Phantom of the Opera to the Théâtre du Gymnase promises to be a memorable experience for both longtime fans and newcomers to the story. With its rich storytelling and dynamic performances, the show is expected to captivate audiences once again.
