Renault is updating its Kangoo E-Tech with a larger battery, faster charging, and enhanced performance ahead of a full redesign in 2027.
Renault updates electric Kangoo for 2026
Renault plans to introduce updated versions of the Kangoo E-Tech 52 kWh electric van in October 2026, with a full redesign expected in 2027. The updates aim to improve the vehicle’s performance, range, and charging capabilities.New battery improves range
The current 45 kWh lithium-ion battery will be replaced with a new NMC 52 kWh pack, similar to those used in the Renault 5 and Renault 4 E-Tech models. This upgrade increases the maximum range to up to 354 km under the WLTP cycle, depending on the model and body style.Faster charging options added
The vehicle’s maximum direct current charging power has increased from 80 to 100 kW, reducing the time to charge from 15 to 80% to 30 minutes. Alternating current charging now offers two options: 11 kW or 22 kW, with the latter cutting charging time to 1 hour and 45 minutes for the same range.Upgraded motors for better performance
Renault introduces two new electric motors, replacing the previous 90 kW unit. The new options are 100 kW (135 hp) and 115 kW (155 hp), offering improved acceleration and torque, especially when the battery is fully charged.Enhanced regenerative braking system
The Kangoo E-Tech now includes a regenerative braking system with four levels of energy recovery, up from three. Drivers can adjust the system using paddles behind the steering wheel, adapting to different driving conditions.New multimedia and control features
Inside the vehicle, a new multimedia system with a 10-inch touchscreen replaces the previous 8-inch display. The system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with two configurations available—one duplicating the smartphone screen and the other offering integrated navigation using HERE maps.Added convenience and safety features
The updated Kangoo includes "V2L" technology for powering external devices, a more powerful wireless smartphone charger, and additional USB-C ports. A dedicated emergency call button and a telematics unit compatible with 4G and 5G networks are also included for improved safety and connectivity.Pricing and design details to follow
Renault will release pricing details for the updated models in the coming weeks, with the first units expected to arrive at dealerships soon. The exterior design remains unchanged for now, focusing on the vehicle’s improved performance and features.
