Sony continues to offer its popular WH-1000XM4 noise-cancelling headphones at a significant discount, with a 32% saving currently available. These headphones, now six years old and having been followed by two newer models, are still highly rated and can be purchased for AU$299.99 on Amazon. This is the lowest price in recent months, as they usually range between AU$329 and AU$349. The original price of the WH-1000XM4 was AU$439. The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones are known for their excellent noise cancellation, high-quality sound, and comfortable design. They are often described as a top-tier option for those seeking premium audio experiences, with few better upgrades available in their price range. While the newer Sony WH-1000XM6 has since taken the top spot in many best headphone guides in Australia, the older XM4s still offer strong value, especially with their more affordable price compared to the XM6s, which start at over AU$550 and had a launch price of AU$699. The XM4s are equipped with a noise cancellation system that effectively blocks out most sounds, except for the highest frequencies. Their sound quality is praised for its dynamic range and the clarity with which different instruments can be heard. They also feature a fold-flat design, making them easy to carry during travel—a feature that was not included in the successor model, the XM5s. Additionally, the XM4s offer a 30-hour battery life and a Quick Charge feature that provides five hours of playback after just 10 minutes of charging. The current discount of AU$299.99 is seen as a notable deal, though it may not last long. Other options in the market include the Bose QuietComfort Headphones SC, which costs AU$50 more, or the newer JBL Live 780NC, which is AU$50 cheaper. Each of these alternatives offers its own set of features and benefits, but the XM4s remain a strong contender for those looking for a reliable, high-quality pair of noise-cancelling headphones at a reduced price.
