Capcom breaks sales records in H1 2026 with 36.86 million game sales, setting new revenue and revenue targets for 2027.
Capcom reports strong first-half sales
Capcom, a Japanese video game publisher based in Osaka, released its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, which ran from April to September 2026. The company saw a significant increase in game sales and revenue, marking a new half-year record. Sales growth driven by new and catalog titles
Between April and September 2026, Capcom sold 36.86 million games, a substantial jump from 23.85 million during the same period a year earlier. Of these, 4.68 million came from new titles released during the half, including Pragmata, which sold 2.73 million units, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which sold 1.78 million. Catalog sales dominate with digital promotions
The majority of Capcom’s sales—32.18 million units—came from existing titles in its catalog. This was largely due to the company’s aggressive digital promotions. Physical game sales, in contrast, accounted for only 2.81 million units, generating 70 million euros in revenue out of the total 484 million euros earned in the period. Top-selling titles include multiple Resident Evil entries
The best-selling games during the half included Resident Evil 4, which sold 3.54 million units, bringing its total to 17.15 million. Other top performers were Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard, all of which contributed significantly to Capcom’s overall sales. Main franchises reach impressive cumulative sales
Capcom’s main franchises have achieved notable cumulative sales figures. Resident Evil reached 218 million units sold, while Monster Hunter surpassed 132 million. Other franchises such as Street Fighter 6 and Devil May Cry also posted strong numbers, with 60 million and 42 million units sold, respectively. Capcom sets ambitious goals for the full fiscal year
Looking ahead to the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, Capcom aims to sell a record 65 million games and achieve a revenue of 1.2 billion euros. The company also plans for an operating profit of 472 million euros and a net profit of 330 million euros. To support these goals, Capcom has expanded its workforce, surpassing 4,000 employees for the first time in its history. Upcoming releases include major titles
In 2027, Capcom plans to release several highly anticipated games, including Mega Man: Dual Override, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and Resident Evil Veronica. These titles are expected to drive future sales and reinforce the company’s position in the gaming industry.
