Thunderobot, a Chinese company known for producing gaming laptops and related accessories, has introduced the AI Master M7000, a new mobile workstation aimed at professionals who need to run large language models locally on their devices. This type of machine is designed for tasks like advanced AI development, data analysis, and complex computing tasks that require significant processing power and memory. The AI Master M7000 is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo" processor, which is optimized for AI workloads. The device also uses Phison’s aiDAPTIV+ technology, which allows for a hybrid storage system. This system combines 768 GB of traditional storage with 85 GB of cache memory specifically allocated for AI operations, all on a single M.2 SSD. This setup helps support the machine's 64 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, making it capable of handling very large language models like GPT-OSS-120B, which contains 120 billion parameters—far more than the average AI model. In addition to its powerful hardware, the AI Master M7000 features a QHD+/165 Hz display with good color accuracy, as measured by the sRGB standard. The laptop also includes a cooling system that can handle up to 160 watts of heat output, using three heat pipes to keep the device from overheating. Despite its high performance, the laptop is relatively lightweight, weighing just 2.45 kg, making it easier to transport than many similar workstations. Thunderobot is expanding its presence in the Chinese market with the AI Master M7000, although the company is not as well-known in China compared to its reputation in other regions. This new product highlights the company's efforts to enter the high-performance computing segment, targeting professionals and researchers who need advanced hardware for AI and data science tasks.
