Performance details announced
Boris Charmatz will choreograph X 100, a performance with 100 dancers from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP), scheduled for 4 to 7 December 2026 at the Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris. Partnership background
The production is part of a large-scale collaboration started in 2019 to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Merce Cunningham. This partnership includes the CNSMDP, La Villette, and the Festival d'Automne, and features renowned American dance artists like Trisha Brown and Lucinda Childs. Artistic approach
X 100 will incorporate movements from Charmatz’s previous works, such as 10000 gestes and Liberté Cathédrale, to form a dynamic performance combining movement, voice, and physical states. The piece focuses on individuality within a group, highlighting the transfer of energy and a shared vitality. Support and logistics
The performance is backed by Terrain, the CNSMDP, La Villette, Paris, and the Festival d'Automne à Paris, with extra support from Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels. The show is expected to last one hour and thirty minutes and will be performed without seating.
