Upgrading an Android smartphone to a new operating system version is a chance to experience new features and improvements. This is also true when a manufacturer's custom software layer, like Samsung's One UI, gets updated. For users eager to try out new features, beta versions of these updates are often available before the official release. Currently, some owners of Samsung Galaxy phones are testing One UI 9, which is based on Android 17, in a "premiere" rollout. Starting September 9, 2026, the Galaxy A55 has joined the list of devices eligible for beta versions of One UI 9.
However, the beta version is only available in certain countries at this time. South Korea and India are the first to receive the update, with build numbers ending in ZZI1 or EZI1 for South Korea, and ZZI1 or EZI2 for India. The Galaxy A55 isn't the first in Samsung’s A series to test the beta; the Galaxy A36, A56, and A57 had already joined the program a few days earlier. This indicates that Samsung is gradually expanding its testing to mid-range devices.
It’s worth noting that France is not among the countries currently included in the beta rollout. Samsung has not provided an exhaustive list of participating countries, but it is expected that the list will be finalized soon. Countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and the United States are expected to follow, though the order is not specified.
For users in France, there are two options. They can purchase the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, or Z Flip 8, which are currently the only models equipped with a stable version of One UI 9. Alternatively, they can wait for an official rollout between September and October 2026, but this option is only available if they own a Galaxy S26, S25, S24, or S23. Other compatible Galaxy devices will have to wait longer for the update.
