Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has confirmed that GTA Online, the multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto V, will continue to receive support even after the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). During a shareholder meeting on September 17, Take-Two stated that GTA 6 is a single-player game set to launch on November 19 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The company emphasized that GTA Online will remain active and supported after the release of GTA 6 and in the future. GTA 6 is expected to be a standalone single-player experience, much like its predecessor, GTA 5. However, there has been speculation that Rockstar Games might eventually introduce an online mode for GTA 6, similar to how GTA Online was launched after GTA 5. This mode would allow players to engage in cooperative and competitive multiplayer activities, which have been a major draw for the GTA franchise. According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Take-Two has not yet discussed or planned to discuss what a potential GTA 6 Online mode might look like. The company’s statements during the shareholder meeting suggest that fans should not expect an online experience tied to GTA 6 anytime soon. Instead, Rockstar will continue to support the existing GTA Online, which has been a long-term success for the franchise. Fans and gamers have speculated about the future of GTA 6 Online, with various theories about its potential format and cost. Some believe it could be a separate, paid title, while others suggest it might be a free-to-play experience. A few users have even proposed that it could be priced at $30 or more, with one suggesting a possible cost of $70 or more. While some support the idea of a standalone title, others are concerned about the possibility of another high-priced GTA experience.
