BYD unveils the Da Han, a high-end electric sedan with cutting-edge tech and fast charging, aiming to revive its large sedan market in China.
BYD introduces new electric sedan in China
BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer based in Shenzhen, has launched the BYD Da Han, a new electric sedan. The car was unveiled at the Chengdu auto show in August and is now available for purchase in China, with pre-orders starting on October 13. It is priced between 235,900 yuan and 275,900 yuan, which is lower than the initial pre-order prices set in August.Da Han's specifications and design
The BYD Da Han measures 5.26 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 1.51 meters in height. It follows a design similar to the BYD Han, with a front light bar that is 2.41 meters wide. The model is intended to revive the brand's large sedans in China, where the Han's sales significantly declined in September compared to the previous year.Features and interior comfort
Inside, the Da Han features three screens: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central screen, and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. It also includes a 40-inch augmented reality head-up display. The car offers two interior trims, with front seats designed for "zero gravity" comfort. It has a 3.13-meter wheelbase and includes a refrigerated and heated storage compartment, as well as a 17.8-inch screen in the ceiling for rear passengers.Battery and charging capabilities
The Da Han is equipped with the Blade 2.0 battery, which uses LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) chemistry, with a capacity of 102.3 kWh. It offers a range of 1,008 kilometers in the CLTC cycle for the rear-wheel drive versions and 880 kilometers for the all-wheel drive version. Charging from 10 to 70 percent takes 5 minutes, and it can reach 97 percent in 9 minutes using Flash Charging stations, which deliver up to 1,500 kW.Performance and safety features
In its all-wheel drive version, the Da Han produces 570 kW (775 horsepower) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. It includes standard driving assistance with lidar, DiSus-A pneumatic suspension, and rear-wheel steering. While the Da Han is not yet available in Europe, BYD is expanding its fast-charging network across the continent, with plans to install 100 Flash Charging stations by the end of 2026 and 3,000 by the end of 2027.
