A tragic incident occurred in a home near Mexico City, where the family of Mexican indie rock band Camilo Séptimo, including keyboardist Jonathan Meléndez, his pregnant wife Ana Paola, their three-year-old daughter, and their nanny Aleida Romero Victorio, were found dead. The family's pet dog was also discovered dead, tied up by its legs, according to authorities. The couple's six-year-old child was found alive and unharmed. The victims were identified as Jonathan Meléndez, 38, his 35-year-old pregnant wife Ana Paola, their three-year-old daughter, and the 21-year-old nanny Aleida Romero Victorio. Their bodies were found in their penthouse after reports of the incident. Ana Paola was about four months pregnant at the time of her death. The killings occurred around 5:30 pm and 7:40 pm on Tuesday evening, and all victims were shot during the incident. Aleida’s aunt, Lorena Victorio Cabrera, told CNN that her niece was a hardworking and responsible young woman who did not deserve what happened to her. The state prosecutor announced the deaths and identified the musician by his initials J.S.M.O. Camilo Séptimo, the band Meléndez co-founded in 2013, has paid tribute to one of its original members and his family. The band, known for its blend of indie rock and electronic influences, has released four studio albums, with their most recent, Jardín de las almas, released in 2023. Their musical influences include Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys, and Devendra Banhart. Omar García Harfuch, Mexico's secretary of public security, stated on social media that two male suspects had been arrested. One of the suspects is alleged to be a business associate of one of the victims, who is said to have used the relationship to gain entry to the home. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
