A user in the Reddit community r/truespotify tested the feature by creating a playlist with the prompt: "Create a playlist of my most-streamed songs between January 1 and September 17 this year, and present them in a Wrapped-style summary." The feature generated a list of tracks with notes inside the playlist showing how many times each song had been streamed. The user noted that the playlist order remained consistent even after refreshing and adjusting the prompt, suggesting the feature is reliable in retrieving and organizing data. While Prompted Playlists offer a way to preview Wrapped data, some users feel it removes the surprise element that makes Wrapped so special. Alternative platforms like last.fm and stats.fm also offer similar data review features, but having them integrated into the Spotify app is more convenient. Spotify’s existing "Listening stats" tab provides a summary of the most listened-to songs and artists over the past four weeks but does not predict Wrapped results. Some users are concerned that using Prompted Playlists to preview Wrapped data might lead to a more focused listening experience, where users aim to create a "perfect" Wrapped rather than enjoying and discovering new music. This shift in focus could potentially change how people engage with the platform, prioritizing data and performance over spontaneous discovery.
