Xbox Ally price drops temporarily

The ROG Xbox Ally has seen a temporary price reduction of 50 euros, bringing its cost down to 549 euros as part of a web-exclusive offer that runs until October 25. This discount includes free in-store delivery and is available only through the specified date, after which other promotions for the device may be introduced.

Xbox Ally design and differences

The ROG Xbox Ally shares the same chassis and finish as the Ally X, but it differs in color, being white compared to the black Ally X. It lacks certain features such as haptic trigger buttons and a USB4 port, which are present in the Ally X version.

Xbox Ally's weight and ergonomics

The Ally weighs 670 grams, which is 45 grams less than the Ally X due to a smaller battery capacity (60 Wh instead of 80 Wh). This lighter weight makes it more suitable for extended use and is considered one of the most ergonomic portable consoles, outperforming the Nintendo Switch 2 in this aspect.

Xbox Ally's internal components

Inside, the Ally is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip with four Zen 2 cores and RDNA 2 graphics, the same generation as the Steam Deck. In contrast, the Ally X uses a more powerful Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip with RDNA 3.5 graphics, making it significantly more expensive at 999.99 euros on the French Asus store.

Xbox Ally's performance and features

The Ally performs well as a portable console, with a well-calibrated screen and a responsive vibration engine. However, the function buttons are reversed without clear reasoning, and the device remains bulky, requiring a bag for transport rather than fitting into a coat pocket.

Xbox Ally's hardware and expandability

The Ally is equipped with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD, compared to the Ally X's 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD. The SSD is in a standard M.2 2280 format, allowing for easy upgrades. A UHS-II microSD reader is also available as a temporary storage solution.
