New women's tennis tournaments in France

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has announced the creation of eight new women's professional tournaments in France, aimed at offering more competition opportunities for young French players within their country. The plan was revealed on October 23, 2026, through an official statement outlining the organization of two ITF W15 tournaments at the National Training Center (CNE) in Paris, set for September 9 to 15 and September 16 to 22, 2026.

Tournaments will use indoor hard courts

The two new tournaments in Paris will take place on indoor hard courts across three courts, with a fourth court designated for training purposes. This setup will allow for both competitive matches and player development activities, ensuring the facility is used efficiently during the events.

2027 tournaments to expand across France

Beyond the 2026 events, the FFT plans to introduce six additional W15 tournaments in 2027, spread across various regions of France. These will include three clay court tournaments in Reims, Deauville, and Lagord near La Rochelle, and three hard court tournaments in La Grande-Motte, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Azay-le-Rideau.

Goal to increase tournament diversity and accessibility

The expansion aims to increase the geographical spread of professional women's tennis tournaments in France and give players more chances to compete locally on different court surfaces throughout the year. This initiative reflects the FFT’s broader strategy to support the growth of women’s tennis at all levels within the country.

Existing tournaments and future upgrades

In 2026, France already hosts 11 W15 tournaments and 18 W35 tournaments. The FFT plans to continue developing intermediate-level events, with the W35 tournament in Nice expected to be upgraded to a W50 category in the future. However, the specific dates for the six new W15 tournaments in 2027 have not yet been announced.
