France plans to expand women's professional tennis with new tournaments in 2026 and 2027, offering young players more opportunities to gain experience and points.
French Tennis Federation expands women's calendar
The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has announced plans to expand the women's professional tennis calendar in France for 2026 and 2027. The FFT will host two ITF W15 tournaments at the National Training Center (CNE) in Paris, scheduled for November 9 to 15 and November 16 to 22, 2026. Tournaments use indoor hard courts
These events will be held on indoor hard courts, utilizing three courts for competition and one for training. The tournaments aim to provide young French players with opportunities to gain experience on the professional circuit and earn their first points in the WTA rankings. More tournaments across France in 2027
In addition to the 2026 events, the FFT has revealed that six new W15 tournaments will be held in 2027 across different regions of France. The six cities selected are Reims, Deauville, Lagord (near La Rochelle), La Grande-Motte, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Azay-le-Rideau. Variety of court surfaces and locations
Three of these tournaments will be held on clay courts, and three on hard courts. The expansion is intended to increase the geographical distribution of women's professional competitions in France and provide players with more opportunities to compete near their homes on different surfaces and at various times during the season. Existing tournaments and future plans
In 2026, France already hosts 11 W15 tournaments and 18 W35 tournaments. The FFT intends to continue developing the intermediate levels, with the W35 tournament in Nice, held on clay, expected to evolve into the W50 category. The exact dates for the six new W15 tournaments in 2027 have not yet been announced.
