New ITF W15 tournaments in Paris

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has announced plans to introduce eight new ITF W15 tournaments in France, with two set to take place in Paris in November 2026. These events will be held at the National Training Center (CNE) on indoor hard courts, utilizing three courts for competition and one for training.

Aim to support young French players

The initiative aims to provide young French players with opportunities to gain experience on the professional circuit and earn their first points in the WTA ranking, helping them transition from junior to adult tennis. This is part of a broader effort to develop French tennis talent at an early stage.

Expansion across France in 2027

In addition to the two Paris tournaments, the FFT plans to establish six new W15 tournaments in 2027 across different regions of France. Three of these will be held on clay courts in Reims, Deauville, and Lagord near La Rochelle, while the other three will be on hard courts in La Grande-Motte, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Azay-le-Rideau.

Diversifying competition surfaces and locations

The expansion is intended to broaden the geographical distribution of professional women's competitions in France and offer players more opportunities to compete near their homes on different surfaces and at various times of the year. This strategy supports player development and accessibility.

Existing tournaments and future plans

In 2026, France already hosts 11 W15 tournaments and 18 W35 tournaments. The FFT intends to continue developing the intermediate levels, with the W35 tournament in Nice, held on clay, expected to move to the W50 category. The exact dates for the six new W15 tournaments in 2027 have not yet been announced.
