Starway, a French company based in Tours, has introduced a new electric bicycle called the Touring GT, which is a premium version of its existing Touring "all in one" model. The Touring GT is designed for urban and light off-road use, offering a range of features aimed at comfort, performance, and practicality. It has a maximum speed of 25 km/h, a 250-watt motor, and a declared autonomy of up to 100 km on a full charge. The bicycle includes a removable battery, a 2-inch color display on the handlebar, and features like turn signals, headlights, a rear light, and a USB port for charging devices. It weighs 28.3 kg, slightly heavier than the standard Touring model due to its enhanced equipment. The Touring GT has a semi-open frame that is stiffer than its predecessor, the Urban II, and features a higher step-through for easier mounting. The frame includes polished welds, chrome components such as fenders and handlebars, and gray parts like the motor and lock. The rear rack is compatible with MIK HD fittings, allowing for the attachment of up to 25 kg of cargo. The bicycle also has a pressure indicator on the wheels, showing the tire's inflation status with color-coded valves. While it lacks front turn signals, the rear light includes a stop function, and turn signals can be activated using a handlebar command. The Touring GT is focused on comfort and adjustability. It comes in two frame sizes: a 26-inch version for riders between 1.60 and 1.70 meters tall, and a 28-inch version for taller riders. The Satori stem allows for adjustments to the handlebar height, enabling customization of the riding position. The bicycle features a gel seat with a spring, a parallelogram suspension seat post, and a suspended fork with 63 mm of travel. The tires are slightly gravel-typed, allowing for light off-road use, though it is not designed for full mountain biking. The motor, called "Equi Motion," is a rear-mounted, single-speed belt-driven system that offers a quiet and low-maintenance ride with 60 Nm of torque. It includes three auto modes—eco, comfort, and sport—that switch automatically based on the riding conditions. A trigger on the handlebar can also provide a temporary boost for climbing steep hills. The battery has a capacity of 602 Wh and is fully integrated into the frame but remains removable for easy charging. It can be recharged either via a socket at the bottom of the frame or directly on the battery itself, with a 4A charger allowing for quick recharging. The Touring GT is priced at €2,190, which is €200 more than the standard Touring model. It is assembled in France and comes with a 3-year warranty that includes theft insurance and maintenance support. Potential buyers can test the bicycle at one of Starway’s 243 partner dealers, and after-sales service is available via phone or email.
