The Giant Trance Advanced E+ is a high-performance electric bike developed by the Taiwanese brand Giant, designed to set a benchmark in the all-terrain electric bicycle category. The bike features a newly developed composite frame, which is 300 grams lighter than previous models, with a 200-gram reduction specifically in the rear triangle. The frame itself weighs 2.77 kg and includes a suspension system with 10 mm more travel at both the front and rear, offering 160 mm of travel for the fork and 150 mm for the shock absorber. The Maestro 3 suspension system, which uses four pivot points between the two triangles, is designed to reduce the impact of braking, enhancing grip and control. It also retains a Flip Chip geometry adjustment system with three different positions, allowing riders to customize the bike's handling for different terrains.
The Trance Advanced E+ includes Giant’s own TRX (carbon) or TRA (alloy) wheels with Heavy Duty hubs, a telescopic seat post with a Contact Switch E+ feature, a Romero saddle, and an adjustable handlebar and stem that can be tailored to the cyclist’s preferences. At the heart of the bike is the new SyncDrive Pro 4 motor, which delivers 120 Nm of torque and 850 W of peak power—significantly more than the 85 Nm of the previous SyncDrive Pro 2 motor. This motor includes six assistance modes, with a Boost mode offering up to 500% assistance (compared to 400% previously), a traction control feature, and a quick response time of 0.28 seconds. A special chain, the eFlat HT from KMC, has been designed to handle high torque levels (up to 300 Nm) and is compatible with SRAM transmissions.
The Trance Advanced E+ is equipped with an 840 Wh battery that can be extended with an optional 280 Wh battery pack, giving the bike a total capacity of 1,120 Wh. This is one of the key differences between the men’s and women’s versions of the bike. The women’s version, the Liv Intrigue Advanced E+, comes with a smaller 560 Wh battery but still includes the 280 Wh extender, except for the E+ 2 version. The bike is charged using the Smart Charger X, which can fully charge the battery in five hours with a current of 4A. The assistance system includes a new RideControl Go Lux display on the top tube and the Ergo 5 handlebar control (Ergo 4 on the E+ 2 version).
Three versions of the Giant Trance Advanced E+ are available: the top-of-the-line E+ 0, which weighs 21.9 kg, the E+ 1, and the E+ 2, which is the most affordable. These versions differ in their suspension systems, transmissions, brakes, wheels, and handlebars. Prices range from 6,000 euros for the E+ 2 to 10,000 euros for the E+ 0, with the E+ 1 priced at 8,000 euros. The Liv Intrigue Advanced E+ shares most of the technical features of the Trance Advanced E+, but with a smaller battery. The Liv E+ 2 is priced at 5,800 euros, which is 200 euros less than the Trance E+ 2. The Liv E+ 1 and E+ 0, however, have the same prices as their Giant counterparts—8,000 euros and 10,000 euros, respectively.
