The new electric SUV from Chinese automaker BYD, the Yuan Up 2027 Feichi Edition, is priced starting at 74,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 9,700 euros) in China. This base model, known as the 301KM Leading, provides a driving range of 301 kilometers on a single charge. To make the car more accessible, BYD is offering a trade-in bonus of 5,000 yuan, bringing the effective price down to about 9,100 euros. A more advanced version, the 501KM Excellence, offers a longer range of 501 kilometers but is priced at 104,800 yuan (around 13,600 euros). It's important to note that these range figures are based on the Chinese CLTC standard, which typically gives higher results compared to the European WLTP standard used in many other countries. Designed for young, active urban residents in China with more modest budgets, the Yuan Up 2027 features several modern conveniences. It includes fast charging technology that can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes. Inside, the car offers a 12.8-inch rotating central screen, an 8.8-inch driver display, and a DiPilot C driving assistance system. Higher trims also include a 50-watt wireless charger, heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic roof with an electric sunroof, rear air vents, and an NFC-enabled smartphone key. The SUV is 4.31 meters long, 1.83 meters wide, and 1.675 meters tall, with a 2.62-meter wheelbase. When the rear seats are folded down, it provides up to 1,320 liters of cargo space. The Yuan Up 2027 is an updated version of the existing Yuan Up model, which saw a significant sales increase in August 2026. Sales rose by 13.2% compared to the previous month and by 16.9% compared to the same period in the previous year. This model is also known as the BYD Atto 2 in certain international markets. However, the starting price of around 9,700 euros is unlikely to be available in Europe if the vehicle is eventually launched there. The pricing strategy suggests that the car is specifically tailored for the Chinese market, where affordability and practical features are key selling points.
