Collection points expand in France

From November 1 to November 30, 2026, Ecomaison and its partners will open more than 5,000 collection points across France for used toys, doubling the number from the previous year. This initiative involves a wide range of participants, including retailers, local governments, and organizations focused on social and solidarity economy efforts.

Participation spans multiple sectors

The national campaign includes 1,500 stores, 1,244 post offices, 1,400 municipal sites, and 850 associations. Post offices accept only non-electrical and non-electronic toys, while other locations take a broader range of items, even if they are incomplete or damaged.

Sorting and reuse process

After collection, toys that can be reused are cleaned, repaired, or completed by partner organizations before being given away or sold at a solidarity price. Items that cannot be repaired are directed to appropriate processing channels: Ecomaison handles non-electrical toys, while ecosystem manages electrical and electronic equipment.

Campaign highlights environmental goals

The Agency for Ecological Transition (Ademe) shared details of the campaign on October 28, emphasizing its focus on reducing waste and promoting reuse. It also highlights the role of insertion organizations—groups that help people reintegrate into the workforce—through their sorting and restoration activities.

Local efforts in Strasbourg

In the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, a local collection will run from November 2 to November 22. Residents can drop off stuffed toys, construction sets, wooden toys, and electronic devices at participating locations. In 2025, 3.4 tons of toys were collected at 20 drop-off points, a 44 percent increase from the previous year.

Funding and community impact

Ecomaison reports that the French toy and game industry is supported by 36 million euros annually from manufacturers and distributors. This funding supports the sector's operations broadly, not just the November campaign. The collection also engages associations involved in sorting and restoration, which can aid in professional reintegration.

Logistics and local variations

Drop-off locations and their participation dates are listed on Ecomaison’s practical page. Local collection periods may differ from the national campaign, as seen in Strasbourg, where the event runs from November 2 to November 22.
